Academy Adventures Midtown is operated by a non-profit corporation called Ed Ahead, Inc, which is the charter holder. This tuition-free K-5 public school believes in providing an environment that is not institutional. Students learn not just from text books but also by participating in different activities. They learn to recognize their own strengths and are encouraged to work on them.
Having its premises in Ft. Lowell/Alvernon, Academy Adventures Midtown enrolls about 70 students currently. The charter was obtained from the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools in the year 2010. This young school is showing a great deal of promise, through the way it handles the children and their academic and intellectual growth.
Multi-grade and multi-age classrooms form the basis of student-student as well as teacher-student interaction. Through the diverse learning centers designed to meet the varied needs of students, the school never failed to meet the state standards. Placement in the school is determined through academic assessments and personal interviews.
Students at this school are given the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, independently as well as in groups. While computers are used extensively for day-to-day tasks, other activities appropriate for the student are also introduced, such as working with clay, making exquisite centerpieces, boxes and a host of others.
