Acorn Montessori Charter School is home in Prescott Valley, Arizona offering a quality well balanced education for students in 2nd through 8th grades. The school opened its doors in 2001 becoming state approved as a charter school. The school was established to help provide a better quality school that catered to the needs of students as well as to parents, staff, students, families, and community. The school provides two hot meals per day for all students, which ensures the opportunities for all children to have a healthy meal prior and during school along with a snack.

The curriculum is one that offers reading, spelling, math, phonics, language, botany, traits of writing, social studies, history, geometry, geography, zoology, life skills, biology, computer, cooking, and technology. Gifted education is also provided along with free tutoring for students that need a bit more guidance.

The structure of the educational environment is one that believes that all children can and will learn in a learning environment that is structured, nurturing, and provides them the freedom to explore. The small classroom size enhances the opportunities for teachers to work with students individually instead of as a group. The educational tools are the most advanced in the industry using not only the traditional tools but also ones that offer a hands-on experience.

Other than the core curriculum, Acorn Montessori Charter School offers classes in art like band, computer arts, chorus, dance, drawing, and theater along with languages including Japanese, French, and Spanish. Sports offered at the school are cross-country, basketball, football, baseball, field hockey, P.E. classes, martial arts, soccer, swimming, softball, volleyball, yoga, and track. Special programs include Academic contests, Community service, Debate, mentorship program, yearbook, student government, chess club, science & technology, community service, Arizona Learn & Serve Community Service, gardening green thumbs, and computer club.

To ensure proper social behavior can be attained by all students a few programs offer instruction as well as help for students. These programs deal with issues such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, bullying, and peer pressure.

The community and parents work with the school to ensure the best available educational tools are available for all students while teachers go above and beyond to help each student succeed.
