Ánimo Venice Charter High School opened in 2004 as a college prep charter school serving students in downtown Los Angeles as well as nearby communities. The school offers a multi-cultural environment that stresses excellence across the student body, teachers, and staff. The school serves families that are diverse culturally, racially, and socio-economically providing a multi-cultural small school environment. The school is part of the Green Dot School system that expects high standards from its teachers, staff, and students while encouraging parent involvement.

Along with core subjects the school offers film production, computer arts, band, dance, drawing, Latin dance, yearbook, class committees, anime club, urban sketchers, zumba, leadership council, hair styling, peer tutors, Students Run LA, cheering, volleyball club, gaming club, music, and spoken word. Sports include cross-country, soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, rugby, and track.

Parents and students are excited that Amino Venice Charter School is offering a quality education that is beyond what they found at traditional schools in the area. Students enjoy the school and state the teachers are very nice, kind, and want to help them succeed. Parents noted that their children are improving with their grades and want to attend school. The small class size is certainly helping most students while others wish the classes were just a bit larger. The teachers do expect excellence, which means they are strict and want homework turned in on time. This is good in that it helps students learn responsibility.

The results of the Academic Performance Index showed that Animo Venice Charter High School had a 7% growth over the year before. The results of the California Standards Tests showed that students at Animo Venice Charter High School were above average or met state averages in most courses across all grade levels. There were a few percentages below average such as chemistry but overall the students very well.

The school is doing better and grades are improving across the board. You should still visit the school to ensure it offers the learning environment you child needs to succeed.
