Arroyo Paseo High School is a charter school that provides an exceptional education for students in 8th through 12th grades, so actually it is also a middle school. The school serves low-income families with a challenging curriculum and small class size to help each student excel and achieve their goals.

Along with the core subjects, other courses that are not seen in traditional school setting offering students more choices include life fitness, microbiology, food science, immunity & disease, and truth in nutrition. Under envisioning community through digital media, students will be in classes such as widgets, student run internet radio, digital newspaper, and social issues in the media. With Societal Analysis through Statistics, classes offered include individual & small group entrepreneurial projects, business finance, transition, and cryptography.

Parents in the community are very happy with the opportunity their children have to attend Arroyo Paseo High School. The teachers are very caring and nurturing. Staff and teachers alike work with students to help them achieve their goals and graduate high school. Students enjoy attending school where they feel appreciated instead of just another kid. Students are treated with respect and given the one on one attention they need. Parents believe the small class size as well as the curriculum is helping their children excel.

The California Standards Tests results had the students at Arroyo Paseo High School below average in all grades and all courses; however, the Academic Performance Index shows the school improved quite a bit over the previous year.

The school is doing a good job of providing a quality education to students in the community especially since many are doing credit recovery and working hard to graduate high school. As with any decision, you make regarding your child’s education it would be a good idea to take a tour of the school. This way you can determine if the environment is one that will fit your child’s learning style.
