Aspire Antonio Maria Lugo Academy opened in 2006 in Huntington Park. The school offers a more personalized teaching method than what is found in traditional school settings. The school serves students in kindergarten through 5th grade to empower students with the skills needed to achieve academic success all the way into their college years. Aspire Antonio Maria Lugo Academy is part of the Aspire Public Schools which is rated among the top performing schools in the US. The school centers on providing mainly low-income families with a quality education option.

Every student attending the school will be able to enter a university or college upon completion of high school. One of the programs seen at all the Aspire Schools is the College for Certain education which has 12,000 students enrolled in their 34 schools, with the student body make up of 85% Black and Latino with 80% of student coming from low-income families.

The Aspire Antonio Maria Lugo Academy focuses on core subjects that are taught using a variety of teaching methods. The various strategies used within the school system include inquire, project based instruction, explicit instruction, apprenticeship, distributed practice, massed practice, and problem solving. Along with core subjects, the school offers drawing, dance, and physical education classes.

Parents are very pleased with the curriculum, the teachers, and staff at the school that treat each with respect and truly care about the future of the students. Students are learning and enjoying going to school in a safe environment where they feel at home. Teachers are dedicated to ensuring that all students receive the personal attention they need while providing them with a learning strategy that will ensure their success. The only downside is that Aspire Antonio Maria Lugo Academy does not offer a large array of extra curriculum activities.

The California Standards Tests showed above average percentages in most grade levels and courses. The only grade that was just a tad below state average was 5th grade.
