Aspire Millsmont Academy Secondary opened as a charter school in 2007 to compliment the Aspire Millsmont Academy to provide students in 6th through 11th grades with a quality education. The second academy was opened to offer older children with the benefit of attending a school with the same aspirations and goals as the school for the lower grades. As with the other school, Aspire Millsmont Academy Secondary is also a part of the Aspire Public School system that works to ensure low-income families can give their children a quality education.

Students that attend one of the Aspire schools are provided with a personal lesson plan that emphasis entering college. The tools, encouragement, and education ensure that each student is ready and capable of entering a college or university after graduating high school. One of the programs found at all Aspire Public Schools is the College for Certain education. The program serves students that are considered at risk of not completing high school with the requirements needed to enter college.

The Aspire Millsmont Academy Secondary offers a variety of instructional methods found at all Aspire Schools including distributed practice, massed practice, inquire, project based instruction, explicit instruction, apprenticeship, and problem solving.

Parents are very pleased that the second school was opened which allowed their children to continue receiving an education using the same principles in a safe and nurturing environment. The school is one of the best in the area as reported by parents, which also stated their children enjoy attending school and learning.

The California Standards Tests results showed most grade levels and courses were above state average.
