The Benjamin Franklin Charter School opened their Powers campus in 2006 with an average of 665 students per year in grades kindergarten through eighth. The same phonics based curriculum is used for all Benjamin Franklin Charter Schools with high academic standards, dress code, and mandatory homework. With that said, that does not mean that each school will have the same review as teachers, staff, and students are different. As an example, not every one of the schools offers the same extra curricular activities.
The Power campus offers not only the core subjects but also other activities that cater to the development of the whole child including band, computer arts, painting, chorus, and orchestra, along with special programs like academic contests, student council, community services, and science & technology. Sports offered at this campus include baseball, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, softball, physical education classes, soccer, football, and cross-country
All reviews of parents are positive at this school noting caring and nurturing parents and staff that actually take out time for their students. The curriculum is advanced and some students may need help in order to get the hang of the curriculum, but the teachers are there to help struggling students to ensure all students reach their goals.
Students at the Power campus participated in the state mandated AIMS exam, which measures their mastering skills of the core subjects. The percentages of students at this school that passed or exceeded the exam are below along with the average of students across the state.
