California Pacific Charter School of Kern opened in 2011 to provide parents that wish to home school their children with the support they need with all the tools needed including extra curricular activities and field trips. The school serves students in 6th through 12th grades.

The curriculum includes interactive online content, embedded video lectures, one on one teacher support, virtual laboratories, and instant feedback. Students can learn at home or even while traveling with family providing a very unique personal learning environment.

A few of the online programs offered include programs for auditory learners, visual learners, hands on learners, and linguistic learners. Students have the support they need to achieve graduation from high school including credit recovery.

The state of California requires physical education classes which is also a requirement of the California Pacific Charter School of Kern. In order to comply the school offers various activities that students can choose from including team practice, skateboarding, jobbing, and walking to name a few. Students will keep a log of their activities and present it to the physical education teacher to receive a grade.

Along with core subjects, the school offers a few clubs that students can join including Artspace Café, Gaming Club, Healthy and Delicious Cooking Club, Creative Writing Club, Young Mother’s Club, Christian Club, Fitness Club, Variety Club, and French Club

Field trips include places such as Discovery Kingdom, Magic Mountain, whale watching expedition at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Knott’s Berry Farm Civil War Encampment, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Sea World, and Disneyland.

Students expressed the freedom they have while attending the school. Many explained they can work and still do their school work while at home which is an added bonus. Other students said the support they receive is excellent. Parents are very happy with the success of their children.

The school is completely managed online and test results are published at this time. Before choosing an online education for your child, you must ensure that they can work on his or her own and be willing to really do their schoolwork without supervision.
