Camino Nuevo Charter Academy 2 also known as the Harvard Site opened in 2001 to serve students in kindergarten through 8th grades providing families with a unique educational setting that encourages family involvement. The school strives to promote critical thinking, problem solving along with learning to be sensitive to the world around them.

The Camino Nuevo Charter Academy group of schools offers a variety of programs that ensures students success as well as families. A few of the programs include the Latino Family Literacy Project, Mental Health Program, Developmental Bilingual Program, After School Program, Safe School’s Valet Program, Camino Nuevo Family Clinic, Arts Program, Music Program, Computers For Youth, SPARK, Playworks, and Let’s Get Healthy Program. Not all programs may be available at each campus.

There are no other programs available such as sports, extra curricular activities or student clubs.

Parents are glad that the school is providing the community with all kinds of options when it comes to their children’s education. The other programs available are also wonderful which is helping create a close-knit community. Students expressed they would like to see more sports and other programs.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 868 to 855. The percentage of students passing the California Standards Tests showed the percentages were quite a bit above state averages. A few examples: 80% of 2nd graders passed math with the state average at 64%, 90% of 4th graders passed math with the state average at 71%, 97% of 5th graders passed math with the state average at 65%, 73% of 6th graders passed English Language Arts with the state average at 59%, 85% of 7th graders passed math with the state average at 52%, and 96% of 8th graders passed science with the state average at 66%.

The Camino Nuevo Charter Academy 2 – Harvard Site is providing an exceptional education with most students excelling and being prepared for the rest of their educational years and beyond.
