Caurus Academy Review

Caurus Academy opened in 2004 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The charter school has an average enrollment of 299 students. The main focus of the curriculum is based on parental involvement, role modeling, and collaboration with the community. Along with the core subjects, Caurus Academy offers extra curricular activities including physical education classes, painting, chorus, and computer arts. The school does not offer any sports teams. Special programs include community service and science technology. Languages taught at the school include Japanese, Cantonese, Spanish, and French.

Parents are very pleased with the line of communication with teachers always contacting with progress reports whether positive or negative. Parental involvement is welcomed and even recommended. Parents are very pleased with the staff and curriculum which is nurturing as well as challenging for all students.

There are mixed reviews; however, with some parents not pleased with the performance of teachers. A few teachers were reported by parents as being inexperienced or even uncaring in controlling a few students which often interrupt class. One student complained that teachers he had did not provide the extra attention he needed to excel.

Overall, the reviews were very positive with most parents happy with the achievements of their children, teachers that were enjoying working with students, and students that loved attending the school.
