Century Academy for Excellence is a public charter school that opened in 2006 home in Inglewood. The school provides a standards based curriculum for students in 6th through 8th grades. The school offers small class size with only 25 students in a class, after school safety & education program, Saturday school enrichment program, and a block schedule.

Along with core subjects, Century Academy for Excellence provides other activities students can join which include theater, drawing, dance, computer arts, physical education classes, volleyball, basketball, football, and yearbook.

Most parents like the school and state that the school is managed well and that teachers really care about their students. On the other hand, some parents are not as pleased with administration and that some teachers do not have control over their class. Students expressed they enjoy going to school and that they are learning better than when they were in a traditional school.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 648 to 696. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. Across all grade levels and all subjects, students at Century Academy for Excellence were below state averages. However, the academic performance was better than previous years.

Before enrolling your child in the school, it would be a good idea to take a tour and talk with other parents that have children attending. With the comments of parents and the low tests scores, you should do your own homework to ensure this is the best possible school for your child to succeed.
