Coleman Tech Charter High is a public tuition free charter school providing students with an alternative to traditional schools that gives students the opportunity for a personalized education. The school focuses on providing students with a curriculum that enhances their own individual talents and achievements with a focus on technology.

Along with core subjects the school offers ASB and robotics. Sports available include cross-country, basketball, soccer, and track & field. No other extra curricular activities or student clubs are offered at this time.

Parents expressed just how much their students are enjoying going to school. They stated the school is safe and nurturing while ensuring the needs of every student is met. Parents have noticed a change in their children’s grades as well as their attitudes. Students expressed how helpful the teachers are for any problems they may have and help them to understand courses that are difficult for them. The only thing that parents and students both said they would like to see is more extra curricular activities, sports, and clubs.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 682 to 651. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams were mainly below average with an exceptions being 9th and 11th grades English Language Arts at 60% and 53%.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the English Language Arts exam was 73% and math was 80%. Even though the graduation rate is not published, with these scores they do have a large percentage of students graduating.

The school is providing a quality education where students feel safe and are learning to become life long learners. It would still be a good idea to the tour the school to ensure your child will fit the environment and grow academically and socially before enrolling.
