Connections Visual and Performing Arts Academy opened in 2001 to provide students in 7th through 12th grades with a charter school option that offers a visual and performing arts program. The school provides the core subjects that meet the standards set forth by the state of California but incorporates a visual and performing arts program along with the education.

The school provides quality teachers and staff that work with students to ensure they are receiving the best possible education while instilling the desire to become life long learners.

Along with core subjects, Connections Visual and Performing Arts Academy offers band, computer arts, dance, chorus, drawing, drama, orchestra, film production, and photography. Sports available include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, cross-country, physical education classes, golf, softball, soccer, track, wrestling, volleyball. Other programs include newspaper, community service, academic contests, student council, and yearbook.

Parents are very impressed with the school that provides a more college feel than a middle and high school atmosphere. The teachers and staff work to ensure the students enjoy attending school while learning. Students expressed that the teachers are very helpful and they love their school and the great programs available. Students expressed how much they enjoy putting on plays and all the various extra curricular activities the school offers.

The Academic Performance Index showed the school had academic growth from 878 to 910. The percentage of students passing the California Standards Tests was mainly above average across all grades and all courses. A few math grades were below state average but only by a few percentages.
