CORE Placer Charter School opened in 2009 to provide at alternative to tradition school with home school resources, center classes, tutoring, independent study and community classes that personalized to fit the needs of each child personally. The school serves students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
The school provides an assigned credentialed teacher that will works with the family to ensure the success of every student. At the school facility, elementary students can choose other classes from academic to enrichment as well as classes for advanced students. High school students are also offered academic support classes as well as enrichment classes, along with junior college dual enrollment. Students can also enjoy in events throughout the year including school fairs and field trips.
Along with core subjects, CORE Placer Charter School offers extra curricular activities for students. These include drama, photography, painting, dance, chorus, film production, orchestra, computer arts, and band. Sports available include gymnastics, golf, soccer, wrestling, cross-country, football, fencing, martial arts, cheerleading, physical education classes, track, volleyball, lacrosse, swimming, basketball, bicycling, baseball, field hockey, softball, and water polo. Other programs offered include yearbook, multimedia, academic contests, community service, student government, and science & technology.
Parents expressed that the teachers and staff are very supportive and help students. The staff is friendly and caring. The school goes beyond education to provide students with many alternatives that work with the whole child. Students said they love the school, teachers, and the way they learn the topics that are of interest to them.
The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 687 to 745. The percentage of students that passed the California Standards Tests was below average across the board in all grades and all courses. The percentage of 10th graders that passed the California High School Exit Exam was 93% in English Language Arts with the state average at 83% and 87% in Math with the state average at 84%.
The school is providing students with a quality education. The test scores may have been a bit below average however, the academic growth was much better than the base score and the percentage of students passing the California High School Exit Exam was above average. Of course, it would be in your best interest to tour the school and talk with teachers and other parents before making your final decision.
