Denair Charter Academy opened in 2001. The school offers a core knowledge curriculum for students in kindergarten through 12th grades with a variety of advanced courses and electives that offer students expanded choices not only in the educational opportunities, but also in the methods students learn. Each student is different and so is the way in which they learn and retain information. Denair Charter Academy understands this and works with students on a personal level.

Along with core subjects, the school only offers chorus as an extra curricular activity. The school does not offer sports or student clubs.

The majority parents are pleased with the caring and nurturing environment the school provides. All expressed that teachers are attentive and work with students to ensure their success. Students really like attending school but stated they would like to see more opportunities to be classmates through sports or clubs.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 540 to 593.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams at Denair Charter Academy was below state average across all grade levels and all subjects.

The California High School Exit Exam had the percentage of 10th graders passing the English Language Arts exam at 64% with the state average at 83% and in math 55% passed with the state average at 84%.

With the Academic Performance Index, showing a growth the school is working on improving the academic growth. The tests show a different picture as all students were below state averages. However, this does not mean that students are not learning. It would be a good idea to visit the school before enrolling your child so you can ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will excel.
