e-cademie is a public charter school that opened in 2004 for students in 9th through 12th grades. On average the school has an enrollment of 98 students. The school environment is very different from what you find in public education in that it is a family setting. The school highlights developing communication skills, problem solving techniques, and the ability to apply higher level thinking skills.
Along with core subjects e-cademie offers extra curricular activities and clubs including painting, dance, yearbook, community service, and student council. Sports offered at the school include volleyball and basketball.
Parents expressed the teachers, counseling staff, and administration is caring and work with students to ensure each child is given the opportunity to excel. Some parents were very pleased with the way in which the staff and teachers notice immediately if a student is struggling and begins on a path to ensure this student can conquer the course. Students are ready to go to school and enjoy the family environment. Even students that had been suspended from public school have received open arms at e-cademie and have gone forward to become life long learners and productive citizens of their community.
In the state of Arizona, as a requirement to graduate high school, all students attending a public school including public charters must pass the AIMS series of tests. The tests measures if students are mastering the core subjects. Percentages of students at e-cademie that passed or exceeded the exam are listed below along with percentages of 10th graders across the state.
In reading, 22% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 78%, in science 0% with the state average at 42%, in writing 22% with the state at 68%, and in math 5% with the state at 60%.
