e-Institute at Surprise Review

e-Institute at Surprise is a public charter school that opened in 2003 to provide a learning environment for students in 10th through 12th grades that will help them succeed in graduating high school. Many of the students are at risk of dropping out of high school or are struggling with the average public education structure. The school offers all cores subjects along with electives and meets all standards set forth by the state of Arizona.

The learning environment is one in which students can work at their own pace as well as have teachers available when needed. Advisors and teachers work with students to help set goals so they can get back on track to graduate early or on time as well as accomplish their goals in life.

e-Institute at e-Institute at Surprise offers the same curriculum seen at other e-institute campuses which includes core subjects, educational assessment, remedial course studies, guided practice, and enhancement course studies. Classes are held in 2 4-hour session during Monday through Friday.

As soon as an assignment is completed, students receive feedback. This helps students evaluate their own comprehension of the course and if they might need assistance from a teacher in order to achieve successful completion of a course.

The curriculum offered at e-Institute at educational assessment includes Math Skills 1 & 2, Pre-Algebra, Real World Math, Cooperative Education/Work Experience, Physical Education, Elements of Writing 1 thru 3, Elements of Reading 1 thru 3, Language Usage, Building Vocabulary, Civics, Social Sciences, and Sociology.

Students enjoy attending the school and expressed that the advisors are very helpful in guiding them to achieve their goals while teachers are present if and when they need help. Parents are pleased with the curriculum and the way in which their children have the opportunity to make up credits they are behind on or even graduate early.

In the state of Arizona to graduate from high school all students attending public schools including charter schools must pass or exceed the standards of the AIMS series of tests. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the exam along with averages of students across the state that passed or exceeded the exam are listed below.

In math, 34% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 60%, in reading 59% with the state at 78%, science 14% with the state at 42%, and in writing 44% with the state at 68%.
