Eastpointe High School Review

Eastpointe High School is a public charter school in Tucson. The school opened in 1998 and on average serves 300 students in 9th through 12th grades with an alternative to public education. The school works with students, parents, and the community to ensure the best educational tools and learning environment are available for each student so they can become productive members of society and life long learners.

The curriculum is challenging and offers core subjects such as government, World History, Algebra, Real World Math, Earth Science, Astronomy, English, Humanities, Criminology, Student Council, Health Physical Education, and Art History. The school does offer vocational education.

The student body is multi-culture white 42% white, 32% Hispanic, 22% black, and 4% unspecified. The curriculum and environment is perfect for the multi-culture community ensuring that each student can accomplish their goals.

Parents are very pleased with the accomplishments of their children attending Eastpointe High School. All expressed teachers are caring, friendly, and helpful. The school and staff are organized and it is a good learning environment. In the past, a few parents expressed their concern when staff and administration were replaced, however, things seem to be flowing better and students are doing better in courses.

Students at Eastpointe High School participated in the AIMS series of tests that measures whether students are mastering core subjects. All 10th graders attending public schools including public charter schools must pass this exam in order graduate high school. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the standards of the test are listed below along with averages of students in 10th grade across the state.

In reading, 50% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 78%, in writing 47% with the state at 68%, and in math 16% with the state at 60%. With the test scores being quite a bit lower than state averages especially in math, it would be in your best interest to talk with school administration, parents, and students before enrolling your child.
