Edge High School at Himmel Park Review

Edge High School at Himmel Park opened in 1996 as a public charter school to provide an alternative to public education. The school is designed to work with disadvantaged students that have dropped out of school or are at risk of dropping out. The school offers individualized self paced curriculum to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve a high school diploma.

The curriculum at Edge High School at Himmel Park is challenging while providing an environment that encourages choice, service, respect, high expectations, and responsibility.

Students are only required to attend classes four hours per day with the option of morning or afternoon hours to help fit their schedules.

Students at Edge High School at Himmel Park can expect small class size, certified teachers, goal setting, team building, character building, student advisor, time management, as well as personal and safe learning environment.

Along with core subjects the school offers extracurricular activities including drama, chorus, and film/video production. Special programs and clubs are also available including community service and student council. Sports offered include physical education classes and basketball.

Parents expressed their appreciation of the staff and teachers at the school that work with students on an individualized basis to help each student excel and reach their goals. Most of the courses are on computers thus allowing students to work at their own pace with teachers near by when questions or help is needed. For students that are behind in credits or are struggling in any course, teachers are there to be supportive and work with each student.
