Elise P. Buckingham Charter School is a charter magnet high school located in Vacaville. The school opened in 1994 to provide a college preparatory curriculum for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school works diligently to provide students with the tools necessary to compete in a changing world technologically and economically.

Along with core subjects, Elise P. Buckingham Charter School offers extra curricular activities including drama, photography, drawing, film production, ceramics, chorus, computer arts, and band. Sports available for student that wish to participate include physical education classes, volleyball, golf, basketball, and soccer. Other programs offered are community service, science & technology, multimedia, newspaper, academic contests, student government, and yearbook. The school does offer a vocational program, which is technology.

The opinion of parents is very mixed when it comes to Elise P. Buckingham Charter School. Some state the school is providing a safe and nurturing learning environment with teachers that are devoted, while other parents state that teachers are not attentive. Some students expressed they enjoy attending the school and have no problems while others state they are having issues with bullying.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 844 to 845. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Elise P. Buckingham Charter School was mainly above state average. The subjects that were below state averages were math classes including 10th grade Algebra II with 17% passing the exam with the state average at 42%, 11th grade Algebra II at 12% with the state at 15%, and 11th grade geometry at 8% with the state at 9%.

the California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the English Language Arts exam was 94% with the state average at 83% and math 95% with the state at 82%.
