Excel Education Centers – Chino Valley Review

Excel Education Centers opened their Chino Valley campus in 1997 as a public charter school. The school on average has 80 students in attendance in 9th through 12th grades yearly. The classrooms are small offering a better learning environment which is self paced with teacher support when needed. The curriculum is computer based.

The mission of the school is to provide an education that will prepare students to become productive members of society. The school offers multi age classrooms, on site special education, project based learning modules, computer based science, computer based math, and project based English.

Along with core subjects Excel Education Centers Chino Valley offers extra curricular activities including peer mediation, student government, and journalism. No sports are offered at the school.

Parents and students are pleased with the student to teacher relationship which provides a personal learning experience. Students can go at their own pace to achieve their goals which can include graduating early.

All students in 10th grade throughout the state of Arizona if attending a public school or public school is required to take the AIMS series of tests that measures the mastering ability of core subjects. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the exam along with state averages are listed below.

In reading, 23% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 48%, in writing 6% with the state at 59%, and in math 0% with the state at 22%. It would be in your best interest to learn more about the curriculum as well as talk with parents and students if possible that attend the school. The percentages are quite low and may be an indicator that the curriculum is not best for your child.
