Excel Education Centers opened their charter school campus in Fort Mohave for students in 9th through 12th grades in 1999. The school offers a variety of personal curriculum options and supports small class sizes for an average enrollment of 120 students per year.
Excel Education Centers are known for providing serving learning, multi-age classrooms, computer based science, computer based math, on site special education, and project based English. The school has internet access, a multimedia computer center, counseling services, renaissance program, library, recreational activities, crisis invention, community fund raisers, campus awareness project for Excel, and student clubs such as yearbook committee and student government.
Students at Excel Education Centers at the Fort Mohave campus participated in the AIMS series of test which is required in the state for students in specific grades that attend public schools including public charter schools. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the exam are listed below.
In math, 8% of 10th graders met the standards with the state average at 51%, in reading 46% met the standards with the state at 64%, and in writing 67% with the state at 58%.
The students also participated in the SAT9 and TerraNova tests.
In reading, 9th graders scored 40 with the state average at 42 for the SAT9 and scored 36 with the state at 51. In language, the students scored 33 with the state at 42 for the SAT9 and for the TerraNova the score was 30 with the state at 50. In math, the SAT9 scores were 46 for the school and 63 for the state and for the TerraNova the scores were 17 for the school and 50 for the state.
