Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Charter School Academy opened in 2005 for students in kindergarten through 5th grades with an opportunity for an education in both English and Spanish. The dual education platform helps students learn at a higher level and become fluent in both languages. The school offers small class sizes with dedicated teachers and devoted staff.
Along with core subjects, Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Charter School Academy offers extra curricular activities for students that wish to participate including theater, painting, dance, computer arts, and ceramics. Sports offered include soccer, physical education classes, and yoga. Other programs available include academic contests.
The majority of parents expressed they are very pleased with the school that is preparing students for not only their remainder middle school and high school years but are inspiring students to start choosing a college. The learning environment as described by parents is safe, nurturing, and enthusiastic. Students stated they love the school and speaking in both English and Spanish is great.
The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 840 to 847. The goal statewide is a score of 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Charter School Academy showed percentages both above and below state averages. Examples include 88% of 3rd graders passed the math exam with the state average at 69% and 44% of 5th graders passed the science exam with the state average at 60%.
