Fammatre Elementary School opened in 2004 in San Jose to provide families with an alternative to traditional schools in which their children will learn in a safe and nurturing environment. The school serves students in kindergarten through 5th grades with a focus on literature and math using a standards based curriculum.

Along with core subjects, Fammatre Elementary School offers extra curricular activities including orchestra, band, dance, chorus, drawing, and sculpture. The only sport offered at this time is physical education. Other programs are available which includes community service, science & technology, yearbook, academic contests, and student council.

The majority of parents are very impressed with the improvements they are seeing with their children, not only academically but also socially and emotionally. The teachers are amazing and provide students with the one on one attention they need to grow and mature.

Most parents are very impressed with the school and the way in which they choose the method for teaching their children. Many parents praised the Montessori method that works with the whole child. Students explained they really enjoy the freedom and individualized lesson plans. Students stated they really like the way teachers present the schoolwork and help them if they do not understand.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 888 to 898. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Fammatre Elementary School was above state average across all grades and all subjects.
