Farnham Elementary School opened in 2003 in San Jose as a charter school to provide students with an alternative to traditional schools. The school offers small class size for students in kindergarten through 5th grades that focuses on student proficiency. The curriculum is standards based with a focus on literature and math.

Along with core subjects, Farnham Elementary School offers extra curricular activities for students that wish to participate. These include theater, painting, chorus, and band. The only sport available is physical education classes. No other programs are available at this time.

Most parents are happy with the school, teachers, and staff. All staff including teachers is respectful to students, do not tolerate bullying of any nature, and provide students with individual attention when needed. Communication with teachers and staff is always pleasant. Students expressed they really like their teachers and the school. The only complaint from parents and students alike is the lack of student clubs and sports.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 850 to 899. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Farnham Elementary School was above average in all grades and all subjects.

Farnham Elementary School is providing students with an exceptional education along with a safe and nurturing environment that is preparing them for the remainder of their school years and beyond.
