Imagine Charter Middle School at Desert West opened in 2007 and has an average of 260 students in 6th through 8th grades yearly. The school takes pride in the fact that they focus on core subjects while providing a balance with physical education, music, and art. Parent involvement is encouraged as the school realizes that in order to achieve success that you must work with the whole student. The student body is 87% Hispanic.
Parents are very pleased with the way in which their children are given the nurturing they need along with a challenging curriculum. The teachers are devoted to their school and to ensuring all students have the same opportunities to become productive members of society, even working on Saturday’s to help students that may need a little help. The small class size and the attention the students receive are the main reasons parents are very happy with the school. Students enjoy going to school and learning in a home type environment.
The students participated in the AIMS series of tests. Six graders were just below the state averages in reading, above the averages in writing, and below in math by 7%. Seventh graders were above the state averages in reading, below in writing by 8%, and only 1% below in math. Eighth graders were above the state average in reading, below in science by 2%, quite a bit above the average in writing, and only 1% below in math.
The test scores are not bad and the school offers quite a bit to students. Of course, you should take a tour and learn more about the school, staff, and teachers before enrolling your child. When compared to public schools, the school is quite a bit above average.
