KIPP Raices Academy opened in 2008 for students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd. The school is part of the Knowledge Is Power Program with a focus on confidence and character to ensure each child reaches his or her fullest potential.

The school offers core subjects as well as extracurricular activities. The focus is on the arts as that challenges the student’s creative side. Students can participate in drawing and painting. They offer an art gallery created both for in and outside of school.

The parent comments concerning KIPP Raices Academy is nothing but high marks. The space is limited though so parents seeking enrollment are encouraged to talk with the school and get the facts before making a final decision. What parents love is teacher availability, great parent communication and a motivated staff. The classrooms are very small as is the class size which some parents really like and others have their concerns. Students do enjoy going to school.

The Academic Performance Index showed a slight decline in academic growth from 963 to 961. The California statewide goal for schools is set at 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The test results were higher than the state averages with most double that number. For example 87% of 3rd graders passed the English Language Arts exam over the 48% state average. On the 3rd grade Math exam 100% of students passed.
