Leading Edge Academy at Heritage opened in 2011 for students in kindergarten through 12th grades. The school follows the same curriculum and standards of other Leading Edge Academy’s which works with students to learn values and character traits that will stay with them throughout their lives.
The staff works with the whole student to ensure they learn more than just educational factors such as team building and using their talents. Along with core subjects, the school offers photography, chorus, computer arts, painting, drama, physical education classes, volleyball, basketball, soccer, newspaper, community service, yearbook, student council, and academic contests.
It seems all Leading Edge Academy’s have diverse reviews from parents, from the very lowest to the highest appreciation. Some parents stated that communication with the school is terrible even calling the wrong parent to pick up a child from school to punishing the entire class for problems with one student. Then you will hear that the school is excellent and students are performing very well and learning in a small family atmosphere.
A glance at the AIMS series of tests, show that there must be a few issues at the school. 3rd graders were above average in reading and math, but below average in writing. 4th graders were below average in reading, science, and math, but were above average in writing. 5th and graders did very well with percentages higher than state averages in all courses.
The school may have a few issues with some teachers and even the curriculum in some grades. It would be best if you talked with other parents that have children in your child’s grade prior to enrolling your child. There may be underlying issues in the school such as not proper educational tools, uncaring teachers, or even problems among staff and teachers.
