Legacy Traditional School opened their charter campus in Casa Grande in 2009. On average, the school has 700 students enrolled in kindergarten through 6th grades. The school focuses on phonics along with positive encouragement and discipline. The school prides itself on getting back to basics.
Parents expressed how much they love the back-to-basics curriculum and stated that children in 1st grade are learning multiplication, which is astonishing to many. Students love the school where they receive the attention they need for any reason. The one complaint is that the school offers an open enrollment, which is bringing in more students and the classroom size is not as small as it was a few years before. Some parents would like the enrollment closed to ensure the classrooms stay small with a family atmosphere. Another parents stated that the curriculum in kindergarten is tough and with 30 kids in the class, it is very hard for a student that has problems to get the help they need and deserve. The major complaint is the amount of homework given to students even in kindergarten with around 1 hour of homework every night. Another kindergarten parent was not pleased with the curriculum, which was focuses on reading and math without any other subjects.
The school does not have any of the tests grades published online but from many of the parents are stating the school is pushing students to study and learn more than any other aspect of their life. This may show that the school is not focused on the whole child where they learn team play and extra curricular activities.
You should take a tour of the school and talk to parents personally before enrolling your child.
