Magnolia Science Academy opened their Venice campus in 2008 for students in 6th through 9th grade. The school provides an inspiring and motivating academic program centered on math, science and technology. Obtaining future goals is the objective here.

Along with core subjects, student can participate in such extra curricular activities and programs as computer arts, drawing/painting, drama, Spanish academic contests, student council, community service, yearbook, debate, science and technology plus a technology vocational program. The sports program includes cross-country, football, soccer, basketball, softball, physical education classes, and volleyball.

A great school is what parents call Magnolia Science Academy – 4 Venice. The small classes are really liked because that seems to provide more personalized attention. Students expressed they really like the small class size and the way they are respected by teachers and staff.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease in academic growth from 794 to 766. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

Test results for Magnolia Science Academy – 4 Venice showed scores that both exceeded the state averages and some that were below state averages. For example on the 8th grade Science exam, 79% of students passed while the state average showed 66%.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th grade students in math and English. The students here fell below the state average in both areas.

The school is providing a fair education if not better than most traditional schools in the area. To ensure the school environment is one in which your child will succeed it would be a good idea to take a tour before enrolling your child.
