The Metropolitan Arts Institute opened in 1998 as an alternative to public school for students in 9th through 12th grades. On average, the school has 280 students enrolled per year. The school offers a challenging curriculum with personalized activities. Along with core subject, the school offers computer arts, film production, band, photography, chorus, dance, drama, sculpture, drawing, yoga, yearbook, multimedia, community service, student council, and science & technology.
The parents of students at Metropolitan Arts Institute express they truly enjoy the staff and teachers at the school that are caring and put their student’s needs first. Students enjoy the school and state they are doing much better after enrolling in this school. Some students enrolled from public school where they had been bullied and were not learning well, now at this school they are excelling and have made several friends. One parent did state that sometimes communication between the office and parents are slow or they do not answer questions. Teachers enjoy working with the students and had no complaints with the school or staff.
The students took the AIMS series of tests and did quite well. Percentage of 7th, 8th, and 10th graders that passed the exam in reading, writing, and math were above state averages.
From the statement of students, parents, and percentage of students that passed the exams it seems the school is providing a quality education. Of course, it would still be in your best interest to make sure the school is a good fit for your child before enrolling.
