Micro Enterprise Charter Academy also known as Doris-Topsy Elvord Academy opened in 2008 to serve students in 6th and 7th grades with an alternative to traditional schools.
At this time, the school does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or other programs.
The majority of parents are thrilled with the small class size with only around 60 enrolled per year. Teachers and staff are very devoted. Students really enjoy the one on one attention they receive but do wish that the school offered extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs.
The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 654 to 687. The statewide goal is 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was mainly below state average except for 39% of 8th graders passed the general math exam with the state average at 32%.
The school is improving on the academic growth and students are receiving a more personal education with small class sizes. To ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will excel, you should visit the school before enrolling.
