Mohave Accelerated Elementary School opened their charter school in Bullhead City in 2003 for grades kindergarten through fifth with an average enrollment of 115 students per year. The school stresses life long learners with mastery of the English as a major focus. Along with core subjects the school offers chorus, drawing, computer arts, film production, band, baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, softball, volleyball, wrestling, physical education classes, debate, multimedia, yearbook, student government, and newspaper.
Most parents love the atmosphere at the school with caring teachers that work with students whatever the need may be. Many expressed the sports program is above average where students can enjoy being a team player while learning cooperation. Students that are gifted or behind are all given the attention they need while challenging them within their own ability. Learning is fun and exciting with students wanting to go to school. No parent had any negative remarks regarding the school, staff or teachers.
Students at Mohave Elementary School took part in the AIMS series of exams that measures if they are mastering core subjects. The percentage of students passing the exam in 3rd grade was below average in reading, writing, and math. Fourth graders were below average in reading and science, but above average in writing and math. Fifth graders were below average in all core subjects.
With the low percentage of students mastering the core subjects it would be best if you take a tour of the school, learn more about the curriculum, and talk with teachers and other parents before enrolling your child. You can also compare the percentages of other schools in the area to learn if students are learning better.
