The Montessori Education Centre Charter School opened their main campus in 1995 in Mesa for students in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. The school uses the Montessori philosophy in a self-paced, personalized instruction offering multi-age classrooms, cooperative learning, peer teaching and an integrated curriculum. Along with core subjects, the school offers activities including dance, painting, ceramics, theater, yoga, swimming, volleyball, physical education classes, football, yearbook, and science & technology.
The majority of parents expressed just how much they love the school, staff, and administration. Parents stated their children were enjoying school, learning, and doing better than their grade level due to caring and nurturing teachers. Only a few parents were not happy with the school stating teachers had their favorites and did not give proper instruction. One parent complained of bullying in the school without any guidance from teachers or staff.
If you look at the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams, you may get a good idea if the school is doing their job or not. All grade levels did exceptionally well with percentages of students passing the exam being above state average in all core subjects.
From the percentages of students that passed the exams, it would seem that the negative responses from some parents are not warranted. The school seems to be doing a terrific job of providing students with an excellent education.
