Montessori Schoolhouse opened their charter school in Tucson in 1997 for students in kindergarten through 5th grades with an average enrollment of 85 students. The school uses the Montessori philosophy, which offers a self-paced individualized curriculum. Along with the core subjects, the school provides extra curricular activities including band, painting, dance, orchestra, theater, film production, yoga, and physical education classes.

All parents expressed that the school is wonderful and great for their children. The kids are learning not only academically but also how to get along with others. The Montessori Method is different but does give children the opportunity to express themselves and become life long learners. The staff and teachers are very helpful and communicate very well with parents. Parents explained that the curriculum is challenging and personal for each child so every student can succeed. The school does not allow any type of bullying and all the students seem to get along quite well. Parents really enjoy visiting the school and seeing their children progress as well as they is in all phases of their life.

The students at Montessori Schoolhouse participated in the AIMS series of exams that measures if students are mastering core subjects. As a whole, the students did very well with 85% passing the math exam, 91% passing the reading exam, and 84% passing the writing exam. With the Stanford 10 exams, 80% passed the math exam, 64% passed the reading exam, and 52% passed the language.

With the scores being above average in all subjects and the praises from the parents, the school is doing an excellent job of providing students with the educational tools they need to succeed.
