Mountain School opened in Flagstaff as a charter school in 1999 for students in kindergarten through fifth grades. On average, the school has 120 students enrolled per year. The school offers a curriculum that works with the whole child, which means socially, academically, and culturally. Along with core subjects, the school offers activities such as chorus, bicycling, track, physical education classes, student council, and science & technology.
All parents and students had positive comments regarding Mountain School. The students are doing very well in the school, which is more like a community than a learning institute. Teachers, staff, and administration are very kind, caring, and nurturing which helps the learning environment excel. Parents expressed that all teachers and staff are dedicated to the students needs and that many parents are involved in the school to work toward any improvements that are needed. Every parent recommended the school and stated they love the school and it is a great fit for their children.
Students at the school participated in the AIMS series of tests that measure if students are mastering core subjects. The percentage of students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades that passed the exams were above state averages in all core subjects.
With the great responses from parents and the high AIMS series of tests, this would be a good school for your children to attend. Of course, it would still be best to take a tour and make sure it is a good fit for your child before enrolling.
