New City School – Pine Avenue Campus opened in 2000 for grades Kindergarten through eighth. 8. The school focuses on independent thinking so that students can become experts in reasoning and creative expression. The teachers also work with students so that each is proficient in English and Spanish. The academic program utilizes arts, technology, the natural environment and project-based learning.

Parents are thrilled with the addition of both Spanish and English to the curriculum. Also with core subjects students are exposed to a variety of extracurricular activities to give students the opportunity to be as creative as possible. Each student becomes independent making the parents of New City School – Pine Avenue Campus very excited for school each year. The school at this time does not offer any sports, which is a huge disappointment for students that would enjoy participating in sports like baseball, basketball, and cheerleading.

The Academic Performance Index was not available at this time, but the students and teachers are both working very hard to raise test scores and achieve successful results.

What parents loves about having their kids go to New City School – Pine Avenue Campus is that they are being exposed to different languages and cultures. It just makes sense for the real world is what the parents are saying. They also love the teachers. Parents stated that teachers are highly educated and are always there to help and give updates on their children’s progress.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The results of the exams were not available at the time of this writing. The teachers are working hard every day to ensure each student’s success.
