New Visions Academy – Star Valley opened their charter school in 1995 for students in 7th through 12th grades in Payson. On average, the school has 40 students enrolled per year. The school strives to provide the skills students need to succeed and to receive their diploma. The school is devoted to provide a quality education to students that are considered at risk of graduating high school. In the majority of cases, the students at this school are behind in credits for a variety of reasons and this is often their last hope of graduating high school.
Parents are glad that the school is here and is helping students that would not graduate otherwise to succeed. The school prepares students for joining the workforce more than preparing them for higher education.
Students at New Visions Academy participated in the AIMS series of tests. The percentage of students in the school that passed the tests was 0% in math, 75% in reading, and 33% in writing. The results of the Stanford 10 exams showed 79% of the student body passing the math exam, 35% passing the reading exam, and 62% passing the language exam. The percentages of students passing the exam seem to be better than the scores from previous years besides the AIMS math exam. Before students can graduate high school in Arizona, they must pass the AIMS exams.
It would be best if you have another option to find a different school as the tests scores is quite a bit lower than the state averages. You can always speak to other parents as the scores are improving to learn if this school may be a good fit for your child.
