Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy Review

Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy opened in 2009 for students in grades 5th through 7th. The focus is on densely populated urban cities. This gives the students that are often left behind due to living in urban an opportunity to not only graduate from high school, but to attend college as well.

Parents love that their children are provided with an opportunity to go to school and achieve so much. The school also offers a sports program, which includes basketball, soccer, golf and softball. Nueva also focuses on learning through the arts, which the students love. This program also goes above and beyond with teachings of critical thinking problem solving and time management.

The Academic Performance Index showed a score of 814 which was 43 points up from last year. This impressed parents quite a bit as the statewide goal is a score of 800.

Both parents and students alike agreed that Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy is a great school. The teachers are really well liked and they really care about their students. The students are glad that they came to this school to get a chance to learn and become something later in life. There were no negative comments regarding the school in any way.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

For the 6th grade students at Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy they fell just below the state average on the English Language exam with a score of 56%. The state average was 59%. On the Math exam they scored a 60% which was above the state average of 55%.

Overall, the school is doing a good job providing students with the tools they need to become life long learners. If you have any concerns, it would be a good idea to talk with parents that have students enrolled.
