Nueva Vista Language Academy opened in 2009 for Kindergarten through 6th grades. This is a year-round school that focuses on biliteracy, excellence in academics for all students, and cultural awareness.

Parents love the two-way immersion program that teachers both English and Spanish. Parents stated this would help create a well-rounded student that will succeed in the real world. The core subjects are taught with both languages to integrate at a capable learning speed.

Trustworthy and safe are what the parents are calling this school. Parents feel very comfortable when their kids are at school, even before and after. They know that with the immersion program the kids are getting a valuable lesson for college as well as the work force. The students love being able to speak two languages. Other positive comments from parents and students alike are the teacher are very caring and devoted to ensure that the needs are met of each child.

The Academic Performance Index showed a score of 688 which was up 14 points from the previous year. The statewide goal is 800 causing some concern with parents. The staff and teachers at Nueva Vista Language Academy are working with students daily to raise this number but are proud that the score increased over the previous year.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results showed scores that were below the state averages across all grade levels and subjects. While this is concerning for parents the staff and teachers are working to raise these numbers each day.
