one.Charter – Academy of Visual and Performing Arts opened in 2010 for students in 7th through 12th grades. The school offers a wonderful curriculum that focuses on the performing and fine arts that students really enjoy. Parents expressed that the school is one of kind and they are so glad to have found such a school in their area.
The school has some of the best caring teachers that actually make learning fun, which is one of the main reason parents recommend the school. There are many different activities that allow students to be creative and think outside the box while receiving a quality education, which is another reason, so many parents like the school.
The Academic Performance Index declined 8 points from the previous year to 589. The statewide goal is 800. Quite a few parents are concerned about the low index and have discussed with teachers and staff regarding how to improve the academic index.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was not available at the time of this writing.
Even though parents and students both commented on great the school is and love the teachers, it would be a good idea to take a tour and learn more about the results of the California Standards Tests before enrolling your child.
