Palisades Charter Elementary opened in 1993 for families to have an option for their students in Kindergarten through 5th grades. The school prepares students for their future by proving a rigorous yet individualized curriculum that focuses on interdisciplinary thematic instruction and learning for the individual student. Parents are very happy with the personal attention and safe learning environment the school is providing to the community.

Along with core subjects, the school offers a few extracurricular activities. These include community service, a green activity called Waste Warriors and a garden club. Many students stated that they would really enjoy a few other activities and sports like baseball.

Parents love the fund raising, in addition to the arts program and the great teachers. Most parents expressed they truly enjoy talking with the teachers that keep them up to date on how their children are doing at school. Students said they like their teachers and classrooms, but would like to have more things to do with their classmates.

The Academic Performance Index increased by 10 points from the previous year to a score of 947. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the increase as well as the overall score.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was very impressive. Across all of the grade levels and subjects the students of Palisades Charter Elementary exceeded the scores set by the state.
