Patriot Academy opened their Queen Creek campus in 2004 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades with an average enrollment of 53 students per year. The school provides a nurturing environment with a focus on basic skills that helps students achieve their goals. Along with core subjects, the school provides a few extra curricular activities including chorus, computer arts, drawing, physical education classes, martial arts, and science & technology.
Parents have different opinions of the school and teachers. Some state the school is the best in the area providing an excellent education with small class sizes while others state that staff and teachers are rude and often mean to younger students.
The positive comments included great hands on learning, caring teachers, challenging curriculum, and no tolerance for bad behavior. Parents are very pleased that bullying is not an issue and their children feel safe at school and actually enjoy attending school. The negative comments expressed that the buildings are old, dirty, and that teachers do not treat the students in the way they should be treated often punish without learning the problem The principle will not talk with parents or brushes aside their concerns.
Looking at the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of tests will give you an idea if the school is meeting state standards and if students are mastering core subjects. The percentage of 3rd graders that passed the reading, writing, and math exams were 100%. Fourth graders did not do quite as well but were above state averages in all core subjects. Fifth graders on the other hand, were below average in reading, writing, and math. Then sixth graders did very well with 100% passing the reading and writing exams and scoring above average in math. Seventh graders were above average in writing, but were below average in reading and math. Then another twist with 100% of 8th graders passing the reading and science exams, but then falling below average in math.
Since the comments of parents are quite different and the percentages of students passing the exams are up and down dramatically, it would be in your best interest to take a tour and talk with other parents that have students attending the school before enrolling your child.
