Rolling Hills Middle School opened in 2007 to offer students in 5th through 8th grades with a quality education. The school is focused on parental involvement, lifelong learners and a rich academic program for all of its students.

The school schedule is based upon strong academics paired with music courses and a variety of athletics to choose from which include cross country, boys and girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, boys wrestling, outdoor and indoor field hockey and boys and girls basketball. Both parents and students are happy with the selection of athletics but students would like to see more extra curricular activities such as yearbook and student council.

Parents have mixed reviews of Rolling Hills Middle School. Some are unhappy with the math class being taught by a computer and how the school is more focused on athletics than academics. Other parents have had nothing but positives remarks about the school from the great teachers to the strong discipline along with just how friendly the staff is to all.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase of 1 point from the previous year to a score of 910. The statewide goal is 800. Parents could not be more pleased with the score and though the increase is small it is still a step in the right direction.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was above average across the board in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade exams. Parents stated that this shows how hard working the school is and they are quite impressed.
