Sacramento Charter High School opened 2003 to offer families the opportunity to provide an education for their children that would last a lifetime. The goal is to create lifelong learners; self motivated students and critical thinking leaders that will go on to a 4 year university. The school serves students in 9th through 12th grades.
The school curriculum is based on the arts, business & communication, law & public service, math engineering, and health sciences. Students can also participate in dance groups, yearbook, key club, debate, school senate and several different art classes to name a few. Parents and students are happy with the choices of activities.
Parents are very pleased with the teaching formats offered at the school because not only do their children have a school to graduate from, they also get to go on to a 4 year university afterwards. The teachers are very motivating which even the students appreciate. Parents stated that the school is working to improve the chances of their children to receive a quality education so they enter a 4-year college, which is a wonderful blessing.
The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease of 4 points from the previous year to a score of 788. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are not upset with the score, but want the school to increase so that it can meet the state average and exceed it as well.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students showed a mixture of test results with some above the state average and some below. This occurred across the board in all subjects across the 9th, 10th and 11th grade levels. Parents stated that these scores showed where the improvements needed to be made and have nothing but confidence that the school will do well.
The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the English exam was 90% in English with the average at 83% and in math 86% passed with the average at 84%. The students at Sacramento Charter High School are doing quite well as you can see.
With scores and percentages as seen above, you can be assured that the school is working to improve for your family. If you have any concerns, you should talk with parents that have students attending the school prior to enrollment.
