Career Education Center (CEC) is the Star of the North Secondary School, Fairbanks Campus. It teaches grades 11-12 and helps high school drop outs work toward a high school diploma. Students who are 17 years old and have 11th grade standing can apply to enroll in this campus.
This campus of the Star of the North Secondary School opened its doors to students in 2004. The school has since grown not just in enrollment but also in performance levels. While the enrollment is 200 at the school’s two campuses; North Pole and Fairbanks, there are 100 students studying at Fairbanks.
Working toward a high school diploma, students at the Star of the North Secondary School, Fairbanks Campus, meet the same requirements as students of the other high schools in the area. The course offerings at CEC include English, social studies, math and science. Physical education, health and electives like life skills, study skills, success skills, digital photo and others also carry credits.
The student teacher ratio is 18:1. This campus follows the Star of the North guiding policies and is headed by a head teacher who is responsible for overall guidance. It continues to meet the minimum levels of improvement determined by the State of Alaska. Physical activities are many and sports like badminton, volleyball and soccer make memories for children.
