Young Scholars Academy is a charter school in Ft. Mohave that opened in 1998 for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The school offers a curriculum that is structured within an environment that helps to develop social and emotional skills along with academic skills. The school is a year round school that is acclaimed for being back to basics. The school stresses the importance of parent involvement to ensure the success of students. The small class size with one teacher for every 12 students provides a more one on one learning environment where students can achieve success.

Along with core subjects, the school offers extracurricular activities, sports, and student clubs such as drawing, computer arts, physical education classes, basketball, yearbook, and newspaper.

Parents are very pleased with the school stating the teachers are devoted, caring, and dedicated to helping students achieve their goals. The small class size and parent involvement is excellent. All parent comments were positive with the major remark being that the staff, teachers, and administration put students first. Students love going to school and are learning at a greater pace than they did in traditional schools.

You may get a better idea if the school is the best fit for your child by looking at the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams. The percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams was above average at all grade levels and in all courses.

With the great comments by parents and many stating their children enjoy going to school and the good AIMS series of exams the school is doing a very good job of preparing students for their future. Of course, it would still be best to take a tour, talk with other parents, and learn more about the curriculum.
