Founded in the year 1988 as part of the YMCA, Boston, Massachusetts; the Northeastern University was originally an “Evening Institute for Younger Men.”  Within a few years, it started offering classes in law, finance and engineering. The academic programs in the Northeastern University can largely be divided into Core Graduate Professional Programs, Undergraduate Programs, and Centers of Research. The undergraduate programs are offered in 65 subjects, and at the graduate level, students have a choice of 125 programs. They are offered through their schools of Architecture, Journalism, Technological Entrepreneurship, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Public Policy & Urban Affairs, Nursing, Pharmacy, Education, Language Center, Computer Information and Science, Law and many more. They have an Honors Program and Senior Capstone, both offering high-level and enhanced curriculum.  The faculty members have attracted international recognition for their achievements in research and teaching. One of the best learning opportunities provided by the university is through their cooperative education, which places about 5,000 students each year with thousands of employers in Boston and across the United States. With more than 20,000 students attending the different campuses, the college also has in place a distance learning opportunity.

The university’s more than 70 online undergraduate and graduate degree programs are aimed at the non-traditional learners from around the world, seeking high quality academic learning. It doesn’t matter whether the students are working professionals or people taking care of their families, the university empowers them with knowledge to reach their individual goals. Degree programs are offered across a wide range of industries, such as business, technology, education, management, health sciences and many more.  It is known for its online MBA program. Students have easy access to course material, interaction with faculty and other students, technical support and other resources that make learning from home a great experience. The degrees earned through Northeastern University’s online programs are the same as those earned in the campus-based programs. Students can also choose to take up part-time study at the campus while doing their online course.
