Regis University is committed to educating men and women of all ages to take up leadership roles and make a positive impact in the changing global scenario. While being within the Catholic traditions, the university seeks to provide value-centered undergraduate and graduate education. They nurture students in all aspects of life and encourage them to learn proficiently, think critically and logically, identify personal standards and be socially responsible and unselfish in their service of others.  “How should we live” is a question students learn to answer through their education at this university.

It was not always Regis. Founded by a group of exiled Italian Jesuits in 1877, in Las Vegas, it was initially called the Last Vegas College. When these Jesuits were invited to move to Denver, the school was shifted to Morrison, Colorado, in 1884 and named Sacred Heart College.  This name is said to have caused confusion as there were many Catholic institutions with the same name.  The Jesuits also didn’t like the students referring to the school as “The Shack” (SHC). This and many other similar reasons saw the change to Regis, named after a Jesuit saint. The main campus is in Denver and other campuses are in the Colorado cities of Longmont, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, Greenwood Village and Broomfield. There are also campuses in Henderson and Summerlin, Nevada.

Ever since its inception, Regis has been meeting the needs of thousands of students, through innovative programs and academic excellence. The University is a non-profit organization that comprises of three schools. Regis College offers a wide range of programs in sciences, business, liberal arts and education. Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professionals offers several certificate programs along with graduate and undergraduate programs meant to prepare students for careers in the health professions.  Finally, the College for Professional Studies offers undergraduate, graduate degrees, certificates or noncredit corporate education programs. It offers flexible options to accommodate different learning preferences.  Through this college, students can attend campus classes, work outside the classroom or take up online courses.  The university has come to be known as an excellent option for students looking to work on their Master’s degrees. It was ranked by the U.S. News & World Report as one of the best graduate schools in the West.

Classes can be taken online through the College for Professional Studies. These online classes are taught by faculty who are highly qualified and the course work consists of both theory and practicals.  This allows students to keep in touch with the latest happenings in their industry of choice.  Online degrees are available in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Certificate courses in various fields like Education, Software Engineering and Accounting.

Students experience the university’s core educational experience, which engages them in an academic environment that nurtures their goals, strengthens their beliefs and reinforces their commitments. The mentoring provided by the faculty and staff is central to this wonderful experience and helps them immensely in developing as academic scholars and individuals interested in community activities.
