Irving Strayer, as Strayer’s Business College of Baltimore City, the college has been started to help working adults further their education and go ahead in their careers.  It was renamed as Strayer College in 1969 and in 1998; it was awarded the University status and thus the name Strayer University.  Over the years, it has expanded its offering and today offers its programs through 89 campuses in the District of Columbia and 11 other states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Delaware, New Jersey, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, South Carolina and Virginia.  60,000 students from around the world and the United States attend classes at their numerous campuses.
